BELGIAN PARATROOPER - SOMALIA 1993
This is a sketch from my sketchbook and was done while I was serving as an artist with the Marines in Somalia in 1993. The Somali city of Kismayo is located on the Indian Ocean near the Equator and was in the Belgian Sector during Operation Restore Hope. The Belgian Paratrooper seen here was providing security for the Somali workers on the docks. Kismayo was still a very troubled city at this time.
